No Score Open to Pre-K – 1st Grade students. Players must be unrated. Students play 4 rounds, with extra supervision and guidance. Players should understand the basic rules of chess and understand how the pieces move. All players receive a participation trophy. Approximate end time 1:30 PM.

9:45 a.m. - Reserve (no check in required).
10:00 a.m. - Elementary, Primary, K-1, Novice 1, Novice 2 & No Score (no check in required).

8:30 – 9:00 a.m Required check in for Championship, Open and Classic sections. Pairings posted at 9:05 AM.
9:15 a.m Championship, Open and Classic begin  (MUST CHECK IN BY 9:00).
9:45 a.m Reserve  section begins. Please arrive by 9:15. Check in is not required.
10:00 a.m Elementary, Primary, K-1, Novice 1, Novice 2 & No Score.  Please arrive by 9:45. Check in is not required.


  • Trophies to top 10 finishers in each section, with medals for all other participants
  • The top team in each section will receive a team trophy (2 players min, top 3 scores count)
  • Gift Cards for top 3 finishers in Championship Section

Entry Fee and other information

  • Early Registration until the Monday before the start of the tournament at 11:00 p.m. – $45.
  • Late Registration until Saturday, the day before the tournament, at 12:00 p.m. – $55.
  • No on site registration.
  • Free entry to anyone rated over 1600!
  • In the Championship, Open and Classic sections, the Tournament Director may move participants up from lower rated sections at their discretion prior to start of first round to ensure that an even number of participants compete.
  • Participants may be moved into higher sections at the tournament director's discretion. Considerations will be made if a post supplement rating significantly exceeds a given rating cap.
  • No Byes in the Championship, Open or Classic sections. A maximum of one 1/2 point bye is permitted in all other sections.
  • $10 fee to switch sections on day of the tournament.
  • All children under 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Please provide a phone number for a parent or guardian at sign up.
  • Refunds will be provided if requested at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tournament.
  • By signing up your child for this tournament you agree and acknowledge that photos taken during the event may be used for tournament promotional materials by Growing Minds Chess Academy.
